Entertainment law can be divided into two main categories: litigation and transactions. Lawyers who concentrate in transactions focus on the contracts involved in the entertainment industry, and perform duties such as drafting, negotiating, and ensuring that the contracts are properly followed. Entertainment litigation lawyers will defend their clients from lawsuits and pursue lawsuits on their behalf. Within those categories are several practice areas, such as corporate, intellectual property, and international law, among others. Additionally, different segments of the industry often require more specialization, especially those that involve digital media.
